About Us

Hello, and welcome to Conversation in Isolation!

We are a group of Victoria-based health students who started this initiative to help support Australians who are at risk of loneliness and social isolation during the COVID-19 crisis through regular telephone calls.

We match you with one of our dedicated student volunteers to be your ongoing telephone supporter. They'll find a time that suits you, and call every so often to say hi, have a friendly chat, and lend an ear to whatever is on your mind. Simple, right?
Conversation in Isolation was started in March 2020 by a small group of Monash medical students. Since then we've been amazed at how it's grown, driven by dozens of students looking for a way to make a positive difference during this difficult time. Coming from a clinical background means we appreciate how important social connectedness is to overall health and wellbeing.

Our 140+ passionate volunteers are all health students, studying a range of disciplines (medicine, nursing, allied health, paramedicine, etc) at universities across Victoria. Many of our volunteers speak multiple languages, and come from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and walks of life. If you or a friend/family member might like a friendly chat to pass the time - we're here for you!
